The renovation of the Old Opera House started in 2001 and has been conducted in phases till 2017. Kunkel Consulting International GmbH designed and supervised the renewal of overstage machinery, movable separation wall (with hydraulic system and control system), understage machinery and transportation lift.

After renovation the Old Opera House got multipurpose venues which meet the highest technical requirements. The concert hall can be reconfigured into banquet hall. The state-of-the-art equipment enables all types of events: from classical concert to expert conferences, as well as various festivals. For these purposes the venue has many different seating configurations: row seating, banquet seating, exhibition layout without seating.

- Two additional machine stands including access stairs as well as renewal of existing grid level and level of pulleys.
- 16 powered fly bars, payload: 500kg, v = 1,2 m/s
- 2 lateral fly bars, payload: 500kg, v = 1,2 m/s
- 2 wing curtain fly bars, payload: 500 kg, v = 1,2 m/s
- 14 point hoists with movable wire rope output above stage, payload: 250kg, v = 1,2 m/s
- 16 point hoists with movable wire rope output above audience, payload: 250kg, v = 0,5 m/s as well as reinforcement of the existing movable point hoist carriages and pulleys
- 1 main curtain, v=1,5 m/s (Greek (traveller) opening style)
- Replacement of brakes and gear boxes of the existing ceiling flaps (9 pieces), v = 1,0 m/s
- 2 motor winches for line arrays, payload: 500kg, v = 0,2 m/s
- 2 motor winches for line arrays, payload: 1000kg, v = 0,2 m/s
- Complete electric and electronic layout of the centralized control system including main and secondary control consoles for all drives of the overstage and understage machinery, as well as safety-related equipment.
- Complete cooling system with cooling unit and heat exchanger for switch cabinets
- Transportation lift with self-rising drive, approx. 6.8 x 3.5m, stroke 14.1m, v = 0,2 m/s
with 2 secondary lifting platforms, stroke 1.2m, v = 0,2 m/s - Various stage platforms between 15m² and 80m², stroke 0.33m – 2.75m
