About Kunkel Consulting International GmbH

We are an experienced team of consultants, planners and engineers for stage equipment in all types of cultural venues such as theatres, opera houses, multifunctional halls, circuses and TV-studios.

Services provided by us cover all parts of the theatre and event technologies. They include all planning phases from comprehensive studies to define the project goals up to design services for all design phases. The core competences of our company are stage machinery equipment, stage lighting, as well as audio and video technology.

With our employees worldwide, we face and successfully tackle challenges brought by our clients in our day-to-day work. Depending on the clients’ needs, our work on project starts long before the start of construction. Our major task is to assess functional needs and requirements of the venue and to develop a feasible project on this basis.

Creating a performing arts venue is an extremely complex task which therefore requires years of experience and high level of professional competence. The user needs must be taken into account while defining the technical requirements for stage technology design. The characteristics of the existing building and conservation issues of heritage buildings need to be taken into consideration in renovation projects. All these various requirements need to be considered and integrated into an overall concept. The stage must be regarded as part of the working system, which also includes the secondary areas surrounding the stage, external zones, workshops and storages, as well as other technical and artistic areas of the venue. During all phases the project must constantly be checked for its economic and technical sustainability.

Since the foundation of the company, we have successfully completed more than 120 projects in the field of the theatre and event technology. Kunkel Consulting International GmbH is an officially registered member of the German Theatre Technical Society (DTHG) – the professional association for stage technology.
