During the project the client took into consideration various types of use for the existing and new building of the theatre. Originally the idea was to attach the new building to the old one. Consideration was also given to the possibility of concert hall venue instead of opera and ballet theatre.

Kunkel Consulting International GmbH participated in the project from the start. Together with user we assessed the functional requirements on the auditorium and equipment. These requirements became basis for the design brief, which served as guideline during the further design process.

The prepared design documents have been submitted to the State Expert Evaluation Commission (approval authority in Russia) for examination and approval. Our team cooperated successfully with the Commission, we answered the questions, delivered detailed descriptions and made changes by request of the Commission. Our design was assessed positively and the Commission gave an official approval for its realization.

In 2017 new possibility has been taken into consideration: to build a new building of the theatre without its connection to the old building.
